My name is Diya Varma, and I am a rising senior at St. Anthony's High School in Melville, New York. I am a part of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, specifically the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County Troop #1021, and for my Gold Award Project I decided to travel to Maharashtra, India, specifically the city of Shirdi educate citizens about mosquito-borne diseases, as well as the impactful measures required to lessen the chance of contracting these infections. I disseminated information by delivering  presentations and distributing flyers I created and translated into Hindi. By spreading this knowledge and donating mosquito prevention equipment to students in schools, residents in nursing homes, and devotees in temples, I ultimately helped prevent the community spread of these deadly diseases and ameliorate the mosquito awareness and health of the individuals in Shirdi.
